Snowy Plover (Charadrius nivosus) is a small (15-17 cm) shorebird that is discontinuously distributed across the Americas, inhabiting beaches; mudflats; lake edges; playas and open, barren ground. They eat insects, crustaceans, and other invertebrates, which they catch by using a run-and-pause technique.
