Cassin’s Sparrow (Peucaea cassinii) is a small (13-15 cm) bird that occurs in the south-central and southwestern U.S. and down into Mexico, with year-round residents, breeding season migrants, and wintering populations in New Mexico. They eat insects and seeds and are closely associated with grasslands interspersed with shrubs or yucca.
