California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis californiae) is a large (up to 1.4 m total length), slender, black to dark brown snake with white to pale yellow striping or banding. They are spread across the western U.S. and northwestern Mexico. They are found in a variety of habitats, including deserts, grasslands, chaparral, and woodlands.
