American Mink (Neovison vison) is a medium-sized (0.6 m) weasel that is distributed throughout Canada and the U.S., except Arizona. They may be extirpated from New Mexico; if they do persist it is likely they are restricted to the northern portion of the state. Mink inhabit forested areas by permanent or semi-permanent water and wetlands. They have a general carnivorous diet, eating small mammals, fish, crustaceans, amphibians, eggs, and occasionally birds.
