Arizona Shrew (Sorex arizonae) is a small (11 cm) montane shrew that occurs in the southeastern Arizona, the Animas Mountains in southwest New Mexico, and Chihuahua, Mexico. They inhabit areas with a thick canopy of vegetation, primarily in riparian edges of pine-oak forests or in conifer forests. Because of their high metabolisms, shrews feed almost constantly on invertebrates and cannot hibernate.
