Oscura Mountains Colorado Chipmunk (Tamias quadrivittatus oscuraensis) is an approximately 20 cm (total length) subspecies of Colorado chipmunk that is only found in the Oscura Mountains of New Mexico. They are found at elevations of about 2,300-2,500 m on northwest-facing limestone cliffs in pinyon-juniper-oak woodlands. Similar to Organ Mountains Chipmunks (Tamias quadrivittatus australis), Oscura Mountains Chipmunks have an extended reproductive period and begin to breed in late winter/early spring.
