Pecos Bluntnose Shiner (Notropis simus pecosensis) is a small (9 cm) fish that is currently restricted to 282 km of the Pecos River in New Mexico from Fort Sumner to Artesia. They use multiple stream habitat types, but are most common in main channel areas with low but persistent flows. The main threats to this species are dams and water diversion.
