Great Plains Fairy Shrimp (Streptocephalus texanus) is a freshwater branchiopod that is widely distributed through much of the U.S. and into Mexico. In New Mexico they can be found in the Canadian headwaters and the Yellow House Draw. They inhabit seasonal wetlands and temporary pools.
