Western Plains Crayfish (Orconectes causeyi) is a freshwater crayfish that is distributed through the southwestern U.S. In New Mexico they are found in the Upper Canadian and the Conchas watersheds. They inhabit a variety of habitats such as streams, ponds, and reservoirs often in rocks, sand, and mud.
