Packard's Fairy Shrimp (Branchinecta packardi) is a freshwater branchiopod with 11 leg-bearing segments that is distributed widely in Canada, the U.S., and central Mexico. It is found in high elevation (2,300-2,900 m) coniferous forests of northern and west-central New Mexico. They inhabit cool- to cold-water ephemeral pools, roadside ditches, wetlands and pools on rock outcroppings.
