Aplomado Falcon (Falco femoralis) is a medium-sized (38-46 cm) falcon that is found from the southwestern U.S. to the very southern tip of South America. In recent years, they have begun breeding again in New Mexico. It lives in savanna habitat. Major factors that have contributed to its decline are habitat degradation and alteration largely due to agricultural or other land management practices that have impacted the condition of arid grasslands.
