Sprague's Pipit (Anthus spragueii) is a small (10-15 cm) songbird that breeds in the Great Plains of Canada and the U.S. In southern New Mexico, they are considered nonbreeding residents. They breed in shortgrass native prairies and nest in a ground hollow that is usually overarched by grass.
