Boreal Owl (Aegolius funereus) is a medium-sized (21-28 cm) owl that occurs throughout Canada and down into the Cascade Mountains and Rocky Mountains, with northern New Mexico representing the southern extent of their range. It breeds in dense coniferous forests. Boreal Owls are sensitive to logging because they rely on mature and dead trees for cavity nesting.
